Radiation Use & Safety

For X-ray Vendors

 

 Oregon regulation requires that individuals who  Sell, Consult, and Service x-ray equipment must have adequate training in Radiation Safety.  The content of this course has been approved by the State of Oregon, Radiation Protection Services and Imaging Resources, Inc. is licensed by the State of Oregon, Radiation Protection Services to provide this course.

Richard S. Kay, PhD, RT(R)(M),FASRT  CRadP, MSRP,  of Imaging Resources, Inc. will be presenting this course in radiation safety.   This course is presented expressly for x-ray vendors in the State of Oregon.

The following subjects listed in the latest edition of the Oregon Rules For The Control Of Radiation (333-101-020(3)(c)(C)) will be covered:

(C) Subjects to be covered shall include but not be limited to:

(i) Nature of x-rays;

(ii) Radiation units;

(iii) Biological effects of x-ray radiation;

(iv) Principals of radiation protection;

(v) Radiation survey instruments;

(vi) Personnel monitoring equipment; and

(vii) Applicable federal and state radiation regulations.

(d) The type of measurement instruments to be used, frequency of calibration, source of calibration; and

(e) The type of personnel dosimeters supplied, frequency of reading and replacement or exchange schedule;

All radiation machine vendors shall have measurement instruments that will assure compliance with all x-ray machine requirements according to all applicable federal standards, as well as instruments to properly check items such as collimation, HVL, kVp, mA, time, and radiation output.
